Doctors’ organizations should cooperate in increasing access to medical services
27th Annual Conference of the Indian Society of Assisted Reproduction held
Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel has asked the doctors to cooperate in the effort to change the society’s attitude of discrimination towards women. They should come forward and refute the misleading concept of blaming women for the problem of infertility. He said that the cooperation of medical organizations is necessary in the effort to provide equal medical facilities to the deprived, backward communities and areas of the society. Doctors’ organizations can play a decisive role in the availability of medical services in the underprivileged sector and community of the society through dedicated efforts and with the spirit of service to the society. Governor Shri Patel was addressing the 27th annual conference of the Indian Society of Assisted Reproduction today.
Governor Shri Patel said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi had kept ‘Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao’ as the first agenda of the Cabinet meeting when he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat. He has created a new environment for women empowerment. The need is to support his efforts. The Governor appreciated the efforts of ISAR in working with all medical experts, scientists and social organizations to help the poor and needy childless couples, family welfare and studying various aspects of reproductive science.
Federation of Obstetrics and Gynaecological Societies of India President Dr. Hrishikesh Pai said that for a healthy and happy woman, there is a need for the integration, equality and technical dynamism of health services. Dr. Nandita Palshetkar, President of Indian Society of Assisted Reproduction, said that ‘child’ is the right of every person. Efforts with the spirit of service to humanity are necessary to give the happiness of a having a child. Secretary of the organization Dr. Sujata Kar gave details of the progress of the organization. She informed that newsletter workshop, seminars and online international seminars have been conducted by the organization.
Governor Shri Patel honoured 11 doctors on behalf of the organization for their contribution in various fields in the conference. Those who have been felicitated include Dr. Nandita Palshetkar, Dr. Hrishikesh Pai, Dr. M.S. Srinivas, Dr. Narendra Malhotra, Dr. P.C. Mohapatra, Dr. Rachna Dubey, Dr. R.G. Patel, Dr. Nitin Murdia, Dr. Garima Sharma, Dr. Nausheen Ashraf and Dr. Santosh Jena.
The ‘Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao’ campaign was ratified by the Indian Society for Assisted Reproduction (ISAR) in the presence of Governor Shri Patel. Governor inaugurated the 27th annual conference of the organization by lighting the lamp.
A memento was presented to the Governor. Dr. Randhir Singh, Chairman of the organizing committee, gave the welcome address. Treasurer Dr. Asha Bakshi proposed the vote of thanks Dr. Monika Singh conducted the programme.
